Create Your Own 4P's!!

I'm sure that all of you already familiar with 4P's concepts. 4P's is the most popular ideas in marketing area. 4p's comprises Products, Price, Promotion, and Place (for detail, pls read book lah...). Commonly, big enterprise use this concept to drive their focus related with marketing area.

Many books already explore this concept for business organization but not many explore for personal purpose. I think 4p's also relevant to implement in personal area since in nowadays, all of us is already be an "economic commodity". All of us are trying to reach their maximum wealth in order to get prosperous and happiness. For instance, after you've finished your study in university (or in other education institution) you will start to "market" yourself to all companies in order to get suitable jobs. In this self "marketing" activity you will face many competitors who also "market" themself. So, if you want to beat all of you competitor then you must impress your target employer with your own portfolio. That's it, your personal portfolio will directly affect your chance to get "best jobs" and off coures "best money" :).

With utilize 4p's framework, We can build more powerful "portfolio"!!. How to build it??, Let's take a look...

First P...Product...You're the product!!. As you already known common rule of demand and supply. Good product will generate many demands, while bad product will be leaved. So, You must make sure that your quality is exceed (or at least meet) market expectation. One important things about product is the packaging!!. How can you sell best product but the packaging is awful? Yes, there is old quote "Don't judge books from it's cover!" but in fact, the first thing you will see from product is the packaging (or the cover). When you go to supermarket and see a bar of chocolate, first thing makes you buy it is the packaging (even after you buy, the taste actually not sweet). So, from now on, re-package yourself to attract more "bee".

Next P, is Price! Yes sure, every product must be have price to get it. Best quality product is commonly more expensive than the good one and good quality product is more expensive than the bad one and so on. Interesting side of this P is some people only consider this factor and throw it off other factors when decided to buy something. For instance, you saw chocolate in supermarket, even the packaging is awful but the price is cheap then you probably prefer to buy it. That's also valid in people "market". Every companies have their own budget for specific role. Some companies prioritize lower price when the quality is similar - Nowadays, when the competition is very tight, quality of one person compare to other one is similar -. I don't mean you must selling yourself with "dumping" strategy but it is a matter how you can show your quality and asking for the proper price. Yes, in real condition, this is not a simple jobs but you can excercise it through some interviews. The main point is, when you will to sell something you must confident that your price is already in line with your quality.

After We discussed two former P's then We move to the next P. It is Promotion!. Yeah, I'm sure you already noted this term. When you have good product with also good price it won't mean anything whenever you keep it silent and not sounding it. I remember one advice from my previous boss, he said "sometimes, it is need to looked "brighting" in front of our boss". Yeah, that statement is definitely correct. But it doesn't mean that you have to be "Yes" man also, in some case it is necessary to sound up your ideas even it is contrary with your boss ideas. One simple promotion in working area is include your boss in "cc" address when sending an email which shows your talent and capability.

Finally, the last P is Place. It's mean that you need right place to grow up and develop. In my opinion, working for Multinational and Multicultural organization will help you to learn more and develop faster. Nowadays, when the globalization is already impose our country, our competitor in professional area not just our colleague in university but also experience people from other country. Hence, in one side, We compete with them but in other side We must able to absorb their knowledge and skills.

Well guys, hope this passage can inspire you in preparing and creating your own 4P's and win the competition in current tight market.

Have a nice Monday guys...Chiayo!!
